LTSI X English Opens 2022

Well done to all those that competed in the X English Open Taekwon-Do tournament yesterday (2nd October). Between our 11 entries, we won 10 Golds, 10 Silvers (including the Team Patterns event) and 4 Bronzes - which I feel is a great testament to the Academy and how hard the student's train.

We started off well, despite having only one u12 student competing in the morning, which was Kamila, who got us off to a good start by winning our first medal and first Gold of the day.

Next followed the Team Patterns event, where we were unlucky not to take Gold and instead lost out and took the Silver, by one point difference!

By early afternoon, our teenage and adult students were racking up medals, which despite having only 11 entries, pushed us quite far in front of the leaderboard. By the time the black belt divisions were on, we were still quite far ahead of all the other clubs, but unfortunately, we only had one black belt entry (Mr Sultan) and the club in 2nd place on the leaderboard had many!

Despite our lead throughout most of the day, the other club (from Derby) managed to catch us up and pip us at the post by just 2 points! Making them the overall winners this time around. However, we still did great because they had a full squad of 15 competitors, and we only had 11! If more of our students had competed, I am sure we would have won the overall title again, hands down.

Another plus was that every student that entered won a medal or trophy, many more than one - even our first-time entry Akshay and others who haven't won anything before.

Once again, well done to our brilliant competitors.
